Best Collars & ID Tags for Active Dogs

It’s so important for our pets to wear identification. Over the years, we’ve occasionally had ID tags fade or fall off and collars fall off or break.

A few times too many sent me on a reliable collar quest! I finally found the best ID tags and collars that have proven to be great: Boomerang tags! No, they’re not as cute as some tags, but they reliably do what they’re supposed to do.

There are a few different types, but the one we felt would be the most trustworthy was this one (below). It slides onto either a leather collar or double-thick nylon collar.

Ever since we’ve switched to these, we’ve had no more collar mishaps. And a bonus, especially for “inside dog” owners: no more jingling collar tags!

Because our goldens love to play in water, we opted for the double-thick nylon over the leather option. We felt the nylon would hold up better. We got the large Boomerang tags with a 1-inch double-thick collar. (Before ordering a collar online, be sure to read how they want you to measure your dog’s neck. I’ve found some measure differently, which can result in receiving a wrong size.) Here are some collars that we’ve tried out. They have so many color options, too! 🙂
